The reggae band Junior Kilat is mainly based in Cebu, but is popular in the Davao-Dumaguete-Bohol Area. Their name is taken from the 70's Cebuano band Leon Kilat, who they claim, sang first about "Agta". It's also one of the most popular reggae bands in Manila, considering their Song Of The Year Award in the NU107 Rock Awards for "Ako Si M16", their first single out of the album "party pipol ur on dub TV".
Not new to the music scene, The Ambassadors proved that to exist and enjoy their place only takes patience, dedication and a whole lot of fun! With punk as the root of their lifestyle, The Ambassadors are serious and comedic. They are stoic and irreverent. They are "EXPN"; the ultimate adrenaline rush. Clean vocals (Iping) mixed with crunch-guitars and choir-like backing vocals (Bai & Mark) touched with a bassist (Joseph) who is one with the drummer's (Sua) complicated pounding of the drums, makes up this melodic-punk-unpredictable force. Scrambled Eggs are one of the Cebus' most popular bands, and on 1997's Itlog’s Tiki album, the group put forth a strong case for being a talented one, too. Where the band's previous album, Itlog's tiki, often seemed lightweight and superficial, Itlog’s Tiki is more brimming with enjoyable, substantive songs. As before, the band tackles a variety of styles. The delightful "Humba" overlaid with the vocalist singing a catchy, snappy melody reminiscent of . The opening reverb-edged guitar figure of "Pagtagad" is enchanting, as is the song itself, highlighted by a rapturous chorus. The acoustic-based "I’ll be around" is another fine song among a host of others. In fact, there isn't a bad song on the album. The band continues its penchant for experimenting in the studio, and several songs are adorned with studio effects, including the squawks on "Sabaw". TUMBI YATAKI album 2004 (13 songs, 10 bisaya, 1 tagalog and 2 english) which include, Hilot, Maanad ra ka, Kugihan, Sabay, Tareret, Manyakis blues, Tagay, Buto, Bakakon, Kutsara tinidor, Wala, Playground and Choice of living. Formed in the summer of 2001 by high school friends who wanted to spread the reggae vibe in the island, Enchi is Dumaguete’s first homegrown reggae artist. The group had its early beginnings in the now-institutionalized “Reggae Wednesday” at Hayahay Treehouse Bar, a charming music joint by the sea. Over the years, the weekly gig has drawn a growing mix of musicians, students, artists, tourists and locals who flock to Hayahay to sing and dance to Enchi’s upbeat and unique brand of music. Their songs, mostly in Cebuano, and a few in Tagalog, talk about love, friendship, respect for animals, and the laidback island lifestyle in Dumaguete. One of their more popular songs, Istambay, prods the out-of-school youth to keep away from street brawls and espouses peaceful living. Visit Website
